My spirit name is Kanabudabit Mikinak Kwe / Memengwaa Biimashii. I sit with the deer clan, and I am first and foremost a life-giver; mother of two boys. I am a survivor, a warrior, and a helper. I am a pipe carrier and a ceremonialist. I know my purpose on this earth walk is to help others, my lived experiences have allowed me to understand, relate, and support those who have lived with or are currently experiencing trauma, grief and loss, addictions, and poor mental health. I have had the privilege of working in this field for over a decade, mostly with my own people and community. Over the years I have seen the importance of spiritual health and watched how the culture saved the lives of so many. I believe that sickness begins with spirit; to treat illness a holistic approach is necessary to achieve balance, wholeness, peace of mind, and happiness. I would not be able to do this work as a healthy Indigenous person if I was not accountable to my own healing journey. I am proud to say I have done my work and continue to hold myself accountable to be the best version of myself each and every day. My spirit was injured and through ceremony, culture and reclamation of traditional ways of knowing I was able to find my way to a healthy enriched lifestyle. Now I am ready to help others do the same. If you allow me to walk beside you, I will work with you until you are able to walk on your own. I will stand with you and watch you grow as you peel back the layers of darkness that will allow your spirit to shine bright again. Let's go on a journey!
I am Anishnaabe Metis, a citizen of the Metis Nation of Ontario with ties to Red River from my grandmother’s side (Godon, McIvor, Swain, Lillie) and ties to the Metis historic community of Timiskaming from my grandfather’s side (Lavallee, Gauthier, Taylor, Pepin). I have living Metis and First Nations relatives across Turtle Island. Metis and Anishinaabe culture and customs are ingrained in who I am today. I am accountable to my family, the next generation, my ceremony families, the Metis Nation, First Peoples' cousins, brothers and sisters, Mother Earth, the animals, and the water.
I began my journey in 2012 , It began with my spirit name and from there I have never looked back. I will always be open to gaining knowledge so that my bundle will grow. I have been picking up teachings as I go. Life is a constant learning journey, full of lessons. Many of my teachings and knowledges have come from my teachers, community experiences and connection. I have been blessed to work alongside so many beautiful spirits that have taught me in different ways. Miigwetch to all the people that have supported my healing journey. I love each and every one of you!
